The beginnings of Elrond's life in Lindon, before he's Gil-Galad's herald. Before he's even an adult, before Elros leaves for Numenor. It will, shockingly, keep with canon except for only a few differences, mostly in terms of when certain characters meet. But I'm quite sure that no extreme canon-bending will take place. And if it does I'm sure that :iconembrethil: will pelt me with copies of HoME and pull me back in line XD

It will be called Quenta Elerondo because I wanted it to have a serious, Tolkien-y name, like Valaquenta, Ainulindale or Roverandom. Much thanks to :iconembrethil: for helping me with it. It probably seems like it didn't take a lot of work but we did spend a little while trying to figure out possible titles. And she has more elvish books than me. I only have the red one and the Sil :P

The timeline is FA 587 - somewhere in the Second Age. Most likely before SA 1000. Or maybe I will take it all the way through. I haven't quite decided.

I've tried to make the summary/introduction sound as Tolkien-esque as possible, although the story itself won't be written in quite the same style. It will be normal third person omniscient, although I will try and ape Tolkien's style as much as I can. Anyway, here it is:

Many are the tales in which Elrond Peredhel is mentioned or plays part, but little is ever said of the life he lived before his rise to prominence in the court of His Majesty Gil-Galad. This is a great travesty, for the tale of his life is an epic one; filled with more than its share of sorrow, it is true, but full also of untold courage and strength. Herein this tale is set forth.

Obviously to pull this off I will need to actually read the Silmarillion and parts of HoME, but I think I can knock up a draft of the first few chapters soon (:
